Overview
This client worked in the real estate sector and was ready to make a career change, but lacked a background in law. Figuring out how to leverage current professional development with undergraduate experiences in social entrepreneurism was the key to this client gaining admission to top choice schools. By establishing clear motivations, along with carefully crafted addenda, the client was able to compensate for a wide spectrum of LSAT scores that may otherwise have made admissions committees wary.
Result
Admitted to Michigan, Northwestern, Duke, Emory, UT, WashU, UVA with several scholarship awards.
Strategy
This client initially wanted to focus is application on undergraduate volunteer work with a young boy whose had an incarcerated parent. While the topic certainly touched upon legal issues, during the intake and brainstorming process, we were able to uncover the client’s true motivations for attending law school. During the drafting process, the client was able to bridge undergraduate classes and extracurricular leadership in social entrepreneurism with more current real estate experience. Taking the time to refine this client’s goals shaped the list of schools where we submitted to programs that offered the client exactly what was needed to advance a career in socially conscious land use.
