For three years after the U of I, Melisa worked for Kurt Salmon Associates, a consumer product-focused management consulting firm, as a supply chain and operations consultant. She also spent two years at OurHouse.com, a start-up that was the original online presence for Ace Hardware, as an operations manager.

After completing her MBA, Melisa joined Home Depot. Within two years in operations at Home Depot, she moved to Home Depot’s subsidiary brand, EXPO Design Center, where she was the specialty sales manager and director of strategy until the brand closed in 2009. Until her recent move to New York, Melisa lived in both London and Gibraltar where she had been consulting within education.
Outside of her formal work experience, Melisa enjoys coaching youth sports, volunteering in her children’s schools, and studying Spanish.

What I like most about being a Stratus MBA Admissions Counselor:
I enjoy getting to know what makes each client unique and helping each one identify the right schools to complement his or her skills and goals.
One piece of advice I would share with someone who is applying to business school:
Take time to think through the culture of the school in which you want to spend your one/two years. Visit schools and connect with students and alumni. When you feel a connection to a school, it comes through in your application.
